These items are a vital part of your scrapbooking albums and selection of the proper adhesive is a challenge. There are many different kinds that are acid-free and finding the correct type for the project at hand is important. I do know that glue sticks don’t last over time. Do a lot of research to find the best possible glue for what you want to create on your scrapbooking page layout.
I’m delighted when I can purchase 3″X3″ card and note sets. I’ve used Valentine’s sets, Christmas sets, winter sets, and greeting sets. The sets are conveniently packaged together to simplify card making, and there are always some in with my scrapbooking paper. They also make marvelous gifts–stamp a set and then give them to someone to use for any holiday. Or help your kids create hand-stamped or stickers cards for their entire class for Christmas or the next holiday, Valentine’s Day. An ideal accompaniment to the card and note sets are heart-and-flower-shaped eyelets that add a perfect embellishment.
As my family grows and moves around the country our holiday gatherings become even more important. I like to capture the family moments with an obscene number of photographs that make my kids and grandkids groan, “Not another one!” In the end it’s worth it because I compile all the pictures into yuletide theme scrapbooks, which I then send out to my kids as gifts.
All it takes is a little bit of imagination, glue, scissors, and some Christmas scrapbook paper. At this time of year, crafting supplies are usually on sale. Any leftovers that I have I put to good use in handcrafted holiday cards.
The holidays are upon us with all the gifts, shopping, wrapping, cooking, eating, visiting, caroling, celebrating, etc. With an already hectic schedule, finding time to make cards can become an almost impossible task.
Templates are a sure bet to help relieve the holiday bustle. The easy format can be adapted for a wide variety of occasions. Simply change the stamp set, colors, or embellishments for a completely original work of art. Add ribbon, strips of stamped scrapbook paper, tags, punched shapes, or any other embellishment for a new look.
Here’s an idea for using stamping pads from your scrapbooking tools. No matter what your age, what better way to get in touch with your inner kid–in stamping and in life. Whether you’re a total newbie or ready to go pro, you’re sure to pick up one or two new tricks.
1. Tear edges to give a carefree air to an otherwise structured scrapbook page. 2. Take your child’s toy truck, ink the wheels up, and roll the truck over your scrapbook paper. Keep going until the wheels are clean. 3. To create a surf look when you’ve been to the beach, turn an oval punch at an angle and punch along the entire edge of your paper. The smaller the oval, the rougher the surf. Feel the salty spray of the sea by stamping, then stamping off, an element image on textured card stock.
A slider card is a slick little way to add dimension and movement to your next card making project.
To begin, cut a piece of scrapbooking paper to the desired size. Stamp any background text or images on the card. Next, choose your slider images and stamp them on a separate piece of card stock. The stamped images(s) can be any shape but should be large enough to allow for easy movement along the slider track. Cut a slider track by cutting a card stock strip that spans the width of the card. Using a paper cutter, cut two parallel slits in the card stock strip. Leave about 1/2″ on each end of the slits for stability. Cut a strip of card stock, and thread it through the slider track. Loop the strip around the track and use adhesive to glue the ends together, completing the loop. Then, glue your slider image to the loop. Finally, attach the slider track to your card with adhesive.
So you’re dressed and ready for the day. Still, something’s missing. To rise above your wardrobe blahs, you decide to take advice from fashion experts and accessorize!
Simple add-ons to your dress is the same as those to your cards and pages using your scrapbooking tools, stamps, and paper, and can take any design from bland and boring to fresh and fabulous. What’s more, add-ons like markers, ribbon, or brads give you a chance to add class to your design!
When you think of scrapbooks, you likely envision albums full of pictures and memorabilia that capture favorite moments in your life. But scrapbooking is also a wonderful way to preserve other things in addition to memories. Think about using your scrapbooking tools and paper and design a recipe album. I have tons of recipes that need to be preserved.
We all are very busy and have a limited amount of time to sit down and scrapbook a past vacation, much less have any idea of where to begin at scrapbooking. Here’s an idea for those of you who want to create a Disney scrapbook album. You need to make your backgrounds first, lay out pictures, add many interesting accents, and write the text. To design backgrounds, you may use stationary with Disney designs. These can be found in Disney stores and craft stores. For accents you can use cutouts from Disneyland maps and brochures.
For those of you in a hurry to make their Disney scrapbooks, there are scrapbook making kits with Disney themes widely available in craft stores, book stores, and even online. There are websites that are even dedicated to Disney scrapbooking itself.
I like using all of the different scissors and the designs that they create. I have a variety of these scissors in my scrapbooking tools that create a scallop, pinking, ripple, imperial, deckle, and corkscrew effect. The different colored handles help to identify the style I’m using.
I like to use these scissors on tags and the edge of paper pockets on layouts, to edge my page, or in home décor projects. Any of the scissors work great for an added touch or layer on a card as well.
