My scrapbooking tools have a wide variety of perfect accessories, from eyelets and brads to fibers and hemp twine–and numerous options in between. Each accessory works wonderfully alone, but when combined with other products, I can create a look or feel that reinforces the theme or message of my project.
Some accessories, such as buttons and Natural hemp twine, typically add a country feel to projects. Using these accessories gives your projects a rustic, natural, casual, or aged look. Crumpled and torn scrapbook paper adds to this style.

An eclectic look is always fun to make using your scrapbooking tools. Select a seemingly random combination of images that combine to create a wonderful background or accent. And when you rely on the wide array of stamps, card stock, and inks, you’ll find a never-ending resource for your eclectic creations.
For a vintage page, use three different background stamps to create four eclectic card stock pieces that are different, yet combine for a marvelous vintage look that complement an old black-and-white photo perfectly.
You’ll love the variety of looks you can come up with as you create just the right pieces to accent your stamping projects.

Creative Holiday Cards

posted by GotScraps

During this season, is there anything better than receiving a homemade holiday card in the mail? Anyone can buy a package of holiday cards and send out a generic message to their acquaintances. I much prefer homemade cards because they show that the person really put an effort into reaching out during the holiday season.

I don’t even care if the homemade cards look like kindergarten art projects! So long as they are made and sent with love I’m happy. For my part, I’m not the most artistic person in the world, so I use cutting dies to create designs like snow flakes, snowmen, and Christmas trees to glue on to cards. I’ve also found that a little bit of glitter goes a long way.

We all know that time is of the essence; our lives are filled with demands as we find time for our families, our scrapbooking, and other obligations. Some may even feel that they are too busy to scrapbook or create cards. That’s where scrapbooking design paper and vellum come in.
The patterns on the scrapbooking paper and vellum can be quickly added to cards to accent a focal point and lend flavor and excitement. Or they can be easily arranged on pages to establish continuity and provide background. The above line of products provide fun alternatives that both save time and supply a lively background for stamped images.

If you’re like me, finding the ideal storage solutions for your scrapbooking tools isn’t easy. I have a limited amount of space, so I need to provide tall storage or pile totes to achieve the most room.
A file cabinet is the most compatible option for me with it’s supply organizers, because they are already sectioned off into easy to manage sections. I use the hanging files to store anything from paper to stickers. Pictures, for use in future scrapbooks, can also be put in the hanging folders. To stay extra organized, I’ve labeled each hanging folder with a tag of what is in the folder. When I need a supply, I simply glance over the tags on the folders until I find what I need.

This is a fresh card-making idea. Calendar cards feature out-of-the-ordinary holiday ideas and fun cards you can create for a quick gift.
All that you need is at least two colors of scrapbooking paper, stamps or stickers, a 41/2″ card base, and maybe some markers. Apply your colored design and a message on one of the colors of paper and adhere to the coordinating colored card base. Voila! You’re ready to add the calendar with more designs to the plain section of card stock.

Here’s another idea for a scrapbook page layout. Find an image from a favorite movie on the internet and print it on your patterned paper. Then tie this accent with photos, journaling, and title together.
Layering letter stickers in a crooked fashion will give the title of your page a playful spin. There are many other scrapbooking embellishments that can be added to the page. Just use your imagination!

Don’t miss out on a wonderful product that provides a fascinating array of stamping options: Pearl Excellence. This fine, iridescent, powdered pigment is easy to use and produces beautiful effects.
It is a great product to use by mixing liquid or adhesive with it. A common mix is Pearl Ex, Lumiere, and water. Stamp your images in a waterproof ink. As you mix them all together using a small amount of each, be sure to add enough water to create a liquid paint. Include this product in your scrapbooking tools!

Here’s an idea for creating a page layout for your next project. This could be included among those in your scrapbooking albums. To keep your photos from being overwhelmed by patterned paper, mat or frame your photos with a solid color. You also may want to start with one 4″X6″ photo and several wallet size photos. They fit well on a one-page layout and leave room for layering patterned papers and embellishments. There is also room for lots of journaling.
