I know firsthand that scrapbooking and card making touches lives–this time close to home. With our grandchildren being home a lot this summer, scrapbooking has been a valuable tool to help the children become avid scrappers and card makers. This hobby has become a great part of their lives too. They love it!
To me, scrapping is akin to therapy. When they get restless, we go to our special place to pursue our hobby. They sit, talk, and create. Most of all we’re together doing what we love best, scrapbooking!

Our school recently provided an opportunity to support autism research efforts. I assisted another lady in hosting a scrapbooking camp during which attendees paid a small fee to create three cards, and the entire fee went directly to the charity. We also had several businesses who matched the funds raised at this event dollar for dollar. Together, we were able to donate a sizable ammount to autism. What a worthwhile project!

I always try to set aside some time to reconnect with my love of scrapbooking. I find a quiet moment, pick a few colors, an accessory or two, and one of my grouping of favorite pictures. I then pop in a CD or plug in my MP3 player and relax to my favorite tunes.
If I don’t have a lot of time, it’s devoted to card making those that I most need to send soon or in the near future. It’s a great way for me to use up any scraps that I have accumulated. Enjoy your summer scrapping!

Fascinating textures have the ability to wow us in even the most everyday things. Adding this delightful factor to your card making can delight those who receive the cards. Stamping on a dry-embossed images is one way to do this.
Dry emboss an image on card stock using any template. Gently stamp the embossed area with a background stamp. You’ll want to press the stamp lightly enough to apply the ink only to the raised card stock. Have fun creating!

Some of my family and I are headed south to the beach soon. We’re seriously considering having a beach bash party while we’re there.
I’ve purchased some new card stock and accessories to put together an invitation for our guests. When we arrive, I’ll be making some incredible favors for the party. What fun we’ll have in the sun and the water!

I enjoy attending scrapbooking workshops and seeing everyone’s ideas. Whether it be scrappers or card makers, I’m always in for a treat.
I am so delighted with the demonstrations using the incredible kits, accents, accessories, and stamps. I also love the make & take sessions that are offered. The opportunity to work with newer products and techniques is wonderful. There is also so much enthusiasm at the workshops, and I return home ready to scrap!

At all of the crops that I’ve attended, I’ve noticed how families are involved in the hobby. My daughter and I started scrapbooking together, but I’ve also seen father and daughter pairs, and sisters just to name a few.
There is an obvious bond in scrapbooking and families. They fill in the gaps for each other and mesh as one. Family members complete each others’ thought and build on each others’ ideas. They trade strengths, which contributes to an amazing assemblage of creative ideas.

More Then Just A Photo Album

posted by GotScraps

It used to be that we would keep pictures in a shoe box for storage. Then we switched it up to photo frames. We love to take pictures, and when photo albums came into play that seemed to be the life saver. As the years go by new things for photos come into play.

People love to be crafty and unique. Scrapbooking came into play several years ago. It is a great way to give photo albums a unique touch. They also make for great gifts for any occasion. It is very personal and has a lot more flare then just a regular photo album or storage shoe box.

During the summer, our calendars fill up with vacations, camping, sports, swimming–all kinds of wonderful memories that need to be preserved. Take time to scrapbook these precious memories.
Grab a stamp set, then select a handful of other products, including ink pads, card stock, and accessories. Most of the time during the summer I spend on making the pages, and then in the late summer I fill the pages with the pictures that I choose to use.

Do you ever get frustrated trying to tie the perfect knot or bow? Well, tying that perfect knot doesn’t have to be a hair-pulling experience. Here are some tips to help you tie a classic knot or bow to use in your page or card.
Start with your ribbon around your card or project with ends pointing away from you. Cross left end over right end, wrap around, and pull gently through. Place your finger in the middle to hold the ribbon tight. Cross right end over left end, wrap around, and pull through. Pull knot gently, untwisting and arranging ribbon as needed. Trim the ends.
