Scrapbookers mostly use card stock or heavy paper as the foundation for their pages. There are other kinds of paper that have become increasingly popular in the scrapbooking environment.
Corrugated or ridged paper can be used for decoration. Embossed paper comes in a large variety of colors and patterns, and it can be used to press images or lettering into. Embroidered paper can be used as base pages, for matting photos, and for making die-cuts. These are only a few of the different types available.
These machines are smaller than traditional systems and include the cutting tools and dies. I like my machine, because I can use it at home and take it with me to our neighborhood scrap club. Die cutting machines can be purchased online or at your favorite craft store.
I recommend your trying out each machine at your local scrapbook store before purchasing. Some machines don’t work well with all of the commercial steel -rule dies that are used in larger machines. Good luck!
Scrapbook paper of all kinds can make wonderful accents for cards. You can make many cards from just one sheet of 12″ x 12″ paper.
You can keep your supplies at a minimal cost too. Choosing stamps, stickers, and other embellishments set with small images and greetings will help you achieve wonderful results.
As a scrapbooker there’s an accessory for every project and a project for every accessory, especially when buttons, brads, ribbon, and more are available to you in exclusive colors. It’s easy to find color combinations and accessories that you like.
While the shades of each family that you use coordinate beautifully together, envision new combinations by mixing and matching outside of a single color family. This is why I also like purchasing sevaral scrapbooking kits so that what’s not used from one kit may work in another.
Scrapbookers have access to a variety of ways to share their craft with others. They can create darling gift ideas from using items from their stash of scrapbooking supplies.
Scrapping gifts don’t have to be difficult. If you’re a beginner at this craft, start with something fairly easy to make. As you become more experienced, you can come up with your own scrapbooking gifts.
I’ve included a photo cube to look at. This doesn’t require a lot of time, and it can be designed from any color that you choose. Any type of embellishment can be added to the cube to make it more decorative. Have fun!
I’ve used the following ideas to create different, pretty cards. Sometimes we just need new inspiration to be more creative.
Decorate a card using texturized die-cut flowers, curing the tips with a bone folder, then sponging ink over the flowers to add more detail. Or, consider using torn edges, offset layers, paper-pieced vases, or line art images colored with basic stamped shapes to design a blooming with love card. The outcome is fabulous!
When you turn the handle of a cricut machine, you open a world full of simple yet amazing scrapbooking options. I’ll discuss one of those options.
Little chipboard mini books in whimsical shapes are all the rage. A little baby book using a long board and scallop circle die machine is an easy item to create. Cut the inside pages with the same die so the fit is just right. With so many large dies available choose a shape that suits your style. You can even decorate the album using die-cut accents!
When you are a new mom or if you know someone who will be a new mommy then let the shopping begin. Trying to find the right gift can be difficult. You want to be unique and different. It can be hard to find the right thing.
One gift idea to consider is a scrapbooking kit. It comes with all the beginning tools that you will need to start making memories. It is also a good way to have some mommy time by yourself to unwind. Scrapbooking kits make a really great new mommy gift.
Nothing says Spring and Summer quite like a colorful butterfly fluttering about. Using just a few products, you can create a kaleidoscope of multicolored butterflies suspended in mid-flight.
Make your mobile butterlies using dies and paper. Even make a mobiles that spells your child’s name. I’ve given you the basics: what you create is up to you.
I have a unique feature in our home that has received lots of compliments. I have a large, antique buffet standing in the family room off of our kitchen. I always keep it decorated with things created by myself or my grandchildren, whether they are hung, in frames, or free standing.
What a great way to focus on your family with decorations of special meaning–and special memories. It has become a tradition of replacing old with new decor at certain intervals of time. These projects are truly gifts from the heart created by our loved ones!
