This is the last part of the article that I posted on Friday. To create a background on your shaving cream page, lay card stock directly onto the shaving cream; peeling away immediately. Shave the card stock, using a plastic ruler to remove the shaving cream and reveal the ink and pigment pattern. To stencil, lay the plastic template on the card stock. Press the shaving cream-covered craft mat over the card stock and template. Peel away the craft mat and shave the card stock while holding the template in place. Remove the template and dry the paper with a heating tool or the weight of using heavy books. The books will flatten any curled edges. Happy scrapping!

Instead of shopping at your favorite craft store for supplies, how about checking out your bathroom cabinet for this cool and inexpensive creative medium? Foamy shaving cream cradles inks and spray colorants, making it fun and easy to blend different hues into an endless array of artistic background effects on your pages. The following is an idea for you to ponder.
Spray the cream on a non-stick craft mat or acetate sheet. Randomly mist shaving cream, leaving some areas white. Ink from a re-inker, any type of liquid paint, or ink may be applied to the shaving cream or along side of it. Lightly sprinkle pigment powder onto some areas of the shaving cream for shimmer. With the handle of some object, swirl the shaving cream and powder together to create a streaked or marbled look. (To be Continued)

It is often difficult to select the proper gift for those who don’t want you to spend a lot of money on them for their birthdays and anniversaries. You should then focus on a present that will have a great deal of meaning to the recipient as well as being something they will cherish.
Digital scrapbooks provide a way of storing memories, snippets and things that are special to your friends, family and loved ones in such a way that they can cherish it, and are a perfect gift. Be certain to include high quality images for your scrapbook, choose a theme for the book that includes something about your recipient’s character or the things they enjoy, find newspaper articles about them or about something they love and include these too. Most newspapers now record all the news on their websites too; so you can screen shot the story and include it.

Here’s an idea for including your scrapping supplies in making a gift box. 1. Select the size gift box that you desire. 2. Trim card stock strip with decorative-edge scissors. Adhere around the box. 3. Ink the edges of the card stock strip and adhere around the box. 4. Tie on ribbon. 5. Ink edges of label. Mat with cardstock and trim. Stamp a greeting wish on the label and adhere. 6. Stamp an object or design on card stock: cut out. Apply glitter glue if you so desire. Adhere with foam tape and adhere rhinestone(s), lace, or beads.

Some people scrapbook because they love the craft. Others care more about beginning a scrapbook for the enjoyment of those living now–current family events. Still others focus on the preservation aspects of scrapbooking–thinking about how long their albums will last.
Aside from the overall purpose you may have for scrapbooking, you’ll also find that you have a specific purpose for every scrapbook you make. You may simply want to save the memories of a favorite grandparent or that great vacation you thought you’d never get to take, but finally did.
Understanding your purposes for scrapbooking focuses your decisions about the direction of your work.

Looking for a gift to give, or a unique jewelry box for yourself? Here are the instructions for creating these chic jewelry boxes.
1. Cut a 41/2″ square from recycled chipboard. Score all four edges at 1″. Cut slits in one half of edge and bend on cut lines to create a box lid. Glue the box lid to the chipboard block. 2. Base coat the box with a color. Glue some pearl trim to the sides of the box, under the lid. 3. Cut two 12″ lengths from ribbon. Wrap around the box, placing glue at the bottom and sides to secure. 4. Apply a rub-on transfer of your choice to the side of the box, over the ribbon.
You may want to consider making them for wedding or party favors also.

DIY Paper Party Hats

posted by GotScraps

Instead of going to the store and purchasing pre-packaged birthday party hats, why not let your child’s friends make their own? All you need is construction paper, fabric scraps, markers, buttons and other decorative odds and ends, as well as scissors and glue. I’m betting that as a scrapbooker you have plenty of decorative scraps you wouldn’t mind parting with.

Help the kids cut out a basic shape for their party hat. Then stand back and watch them go to town drawing, cutting, and gluing their masterpiece together. You can even let the kids make multiple crafts for them to take home in lieu of goodie bags. These kids’ crafts are easy to put together, but will provide tons of entertainment for all the party-goers.

Storing Scrapbook Paper

posted by GotScraps

Scrapbooking is my favorite hobby, especially now that I have time to document my grandchildren’s lives. Over the years, I have accumulated a vast collection of scrapbook paper. When I see something that catches my eye I tend to buy it. I also don’t throw away scraps in case I want to use the paper for a different project.

Obviously, having so much scrapbook paper can become an organizational nightmare. I have been able to find a storage solution with the help of Ziploc bags. The bags are relatively cheap and come in a variety of sizes. Plus, the bags have a spot for labeling. I find that storing my scrapbook paper this way keeps everything organized, easy to find, and protected against liquids.

Every scrapbooker includes various articles in their scrap tote. I always have liquid scrap dots and steel-rule Dies in mine. With the liquid dots I can achieve a clear, three-dimensional effect for card making, scrapping, and other paper creations. Thick, stay-put adhesive replaces mounting tapes and dots, eliminating the need to cut adhesive to fit my project.
Ultra-clever Die provides a simpler alternative to tedious hand-cutting and pricey purchased pieces. Die retails for a reasonable price, cuts a variety of materials including card stock, acetate, felt, and more.

We scrapbookers have a special affinity for writing, because pens are used for making beautiful designs on our pages and cards. Gelly roll pens come in a variety of colors-the first five colors, (black, blue, red, green, and purple), are pigment-based. Kids love these pens, and you may get them to doodle with them. These pens are used more often for decorating pages than for journaling. Always remember to store the pens properly in a container!
