Jars are showing up in the strangest places these days–filled with scented potpourri and kept on a windowsill, overflowing with a rainbow of ribbon and tucked on a desk, or brimming with candy surprises and placed into the hands of a loved one.
Regardless of what you decide to put inside a jar, you can stamp an outside equally delightful, with exactly the right images and color palette to enhance the contents! Wonderful gifts for any time of year, jars make an ideal art from the heart project.
Beginners aren’t the only ones who will fall in love with card kits. Stampers will appreciate the convenience and time savings a kit offers. Card kits are an incredible gift idea for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, or a simple thinging-of-you memento. Giving this gift can be a way of sharing your favorite hobby with loved ones at the same time.
What’s more, as you experiment with the kits, you’ll undoubtedly discover numerous other ways the images, which are included in the kit, can be used. You can use the stamps on other cards, on gift or favor boxes, or on your scrapbooking pages.
A great card making kit should include die-cut stamps, inks, adhesive, and envelopes, along with necessary accessories and pre-cut, pre-scored pieces of card stock needed to create a number of cards. Some kits focus on basic stamping techniques, while others showcase more advanced techniques, which stampers of all levels will find interesting.
These kits take all of the guess work out of color and stamp selection. Novice stampers no longer have to figure out everything the first time around. Instead, they can purchase with confidence and without apprehension, knowing they’ll receive everything they need to start stamping the minute they arrive home. Most kits include a detailed instruction sheet with full-color photographs of the cards.
In my opinion cards and scrapbook pages aren’t that different. You look at color combinations the same way on both project types, use the same tools, and create a balanced layout. The purpose is just different.
My projects are frequently changed between conception and the finished product. I find it rewarding when a page turns out better than I had originally expected it. Nothing is perfect the first time you try it. It just takes practice.
The Szzix die cutting machine is built to take your scrapbooking and card making to the next level. For those unfamiliar with cricut die cut machines, the apparatus removes the need for scissors. It also cuts down on wasted paper. Essential, a die cutting machine cuts materials in a precise shape or design. You can use premade stencils or create your own.
The Sizzix die cutting machine also does embossing. Just use a piece of foil, cardstock, vellum, or a paper and create stunning artwork perfect for invitations. The cricut machine also completes texturizing; you can add patterns and designs to thin materials. The Sizzix also utilizes scoreboard dies that scores mat board and chipboard, making it easier to put together small gift boxes, business card holders, and other designs.
Looks can be deceiving–sometimes in a good way! The accent background on a tasteful all-occasion card may appear to be linen. This eye-catching look can be designed with only a few stamping basics.
Begin by stamping your image on glossy white card stock. Next, rub a sanding block over the surface of the card from top to bottom, then from side to side. How many times you sand the surface and how much pressure you apply will determine the final result. Finally, ink a stamping sponge or sponge dauber, and rub the ink over the sanded surface to create the linen look.
You’ll love the dimension and texture this simple technique adds to any stamped project.
I would like to share this unique brown-paper gift album with you. Make a fun scrapbook by laying two paper bags on top of each other in opposite directions so the opening for the top bag is on your right and the opening for the bottom bag is on your left. Fold the bags in half, punch five holes with a 1/8″ circle punch, and tie ribbon or hemp twine to bind the bags together to create the book.
You can then decorate each page with card stock, pictures, stamped images, and accents. Best of all, the bag openings provide a perfect place for tags. Record journaling, information, details, and events, then slip the tags inside the bag openings.
These handmade albums are small enough to create in one sitting and provide a wonderful gift for grandparents or other loved ones.
Whether you’re a beginning stamper or an expert, you’re sure to welcome a new design for a versatile card. That’s where A la Card comes in. The idea of taking a basic card template and changing an element or two to come up with a completely different look appeals to all stampers.
Take a simple card and use the same template and color palette for all of your cards. All that you need to do is select different images on each card. Use sparkling candles, a soft flower, or a darling heart to emphasize the message of each card. The cards are all based on the same layout design!
