I was searching through some old boxes today and ran across a true Vintage photo/scrapbook at the bottom of one of the boxes. The album is truly beautiful, the pages still so strong, and the paper beautifully designed. Unfortunately, many of the old pictures are missing. I’ve decided to add some of my grandparent’s loose photos to the the pages and attempt to preserve the album.
If you want to create an album such as this from scratch, use a digital photo editing software program. Then go onto the internet to find a Vintage digital scrapbook theme that you like. Photographs can easily be placed into the layout, cropped or re-sized by the click of your mouse. The page colors can be changed and journaled on. Print your pages on your color printer, then find a classic album cover and wrap with a ribbon. Happy New Year!!!!

Straight pins are a delicate accent to add to your paper, and these decorative pins really compliment your scrapping page. So break out the pins when you just need a little more to finish that scrapbooking paper project.
Here are some ideas for using these little gems: Use them to accent ribbon, embellish a card stock sticker, pin them right through a photo, or use them in a shadow box display. They are so fun to use!

While in the craft store, I discovered a whole shelf of all sorts of sequins. These little sequin delights are sometimes just what I need to finish off a page or card. They add a special twinkle to the project.
Here a few ways that you can use them: Use the sequins as photo corners, as borders, to add pizazz to chipboard shapes, or to embellish patterned paper. Sprinkle them on a page, spell a word or make an initial with sequins.

It’s that Time of Year

With the holidays right around the corner it’s time for all of us to start thinking about getting our holiday cards made and mailed. My family has been blessed with a lot of good friends, relatives and acquaintances. Each year, to show our appreciation, we send out holiday cards to everyone on the list. What makes our cards unique, though, is that they’re made right here in our home. And the best part is they have all the quality of professionally made cards at a fraction of the cost.

Affordable, top-quality card making supplies are critical to creating quality cards that make an impression. Whether it’s with a featured photograph or some festive holiday art, it’s easier than ever to get my cards made with very little effort. And with the personal touch all of the people on our list are overflowing with appreciation and joy. It just goes to show, when you put a lot of love into something you create, people notice!

I was among those who participated in the after Christmas shopping today at my favorite craft store, and I found a brand of albums that I’d recommend to the beginning scrapper. The albums are made with the finest materials and are completely archival. With a variety of nine colors and four of the most popular sizes to suit your taste, the albums would be at the top of my must-have list if I were a beginner.
The albums with heavyweight chipboard covers allow you to customize your own with paper and embellishments and are available in four of the most popular sizes. They offer the convenience of D-ring binding, and include 10 page protectors.

There are a few more projects that I have my grandchildren perform during the few days before Christmas. The families always arrive early, so I want the children to feel like they’re contributing to the season.
Christmas embellishments and cardstock can make name plates for the holiday table. Initiate and help your children make a centerpiece for the table out of paper and scrapbooking supplies.
Scrapbooking with my grandchildren is a chance to spend quality time with them and yet encourage their creativeness and imaginations. From our family to yours, We Wish You a Very Blessed Christmas!

The younger children, during the Christmas season, are so excited in anticipation of all of the festivities to come. I have a few suggestions to try to help them curb some of that anxiety and yet have them feel like they’re helping out.
Convince them that it’ll be very important for them to assist you in saving pieces of wrapping paper to use for the picture backgrounds of your Christmas scrapbooking pages. The ribbons from off of the paper can be gathered for decoration by tying bits and pieces along the spine of your Christmas scrapbooking albums. Have the children write letters to Santa and save, scan or reduce them for use as embellishments for your holiday pages.

With all of the rubber stamps to select from, why would you want to work with a foam design? First, foam stamps have a smooth, flat surface that can be used with ink or acrylic paint. It is easy to remove the color from them with water.
Pour the color that you wish to use in a small dish, brush a thin coat of paint on the pad blotching off excess paint, press the stamp firmly, then reapply paint and proceed on. Of course, clean and dry the stamps for later use in another project.

I had the opportunity to attend a street art festival yesterday. As I was browsing the booths, I ran across a new idea that I’ll be using in my scrapping. The merchant had incorporated a scrapbooking page onto a piece of wood. The items were striking!
Mounting scrapbook pages on pieces of wood will be a quick and easy way to make the embellished pages look extra special. I probably will seal the finished project with some type of preservative. This craft idea will make a great gift or will be used in my home decor.

I’ve had several people ask me why I use a paper cutter and not just my sharp scissors. The cutter helps you prevent a lot of waste of paper by making clean, accurate cuts. I have a trimmer that has a grid on it, as I want to be certain that all of my cuts are straight.
There are several different types of trimmers out there, rotary, electric, hydraulic, and foam board. When choosing a cutter, select the most ideal trimmer for what you are crafting. Be sure to research each kind.
