When you think of scrapbooks, you likely envision albums full of pictures and memorabilia that capture favorite moments in your life. But scrapbooking is also a wonderful way to preserve other things in addition to memories. Think about using your scrapbooking tools and paper and design a recipe album. I have tons of recipes that need to be preserved.

We all are very busy and have a limited amount of time to sit down and scrapbook a past vacation, much less have any idea of where to begin at scrapbooking. Here’s an idea for those of you who want to create a Disney scrapbook album. You need to make your backgrounds first, lay out pictures, add many interesting accents, and write the text. To design backgrounds, you may use stationary with Disney designs. These can be found in Disney stores and craft stores. For accents you can use cutouts from Disneyland maps and brochures.
For those of you in a hurry to make their Disney scrapbooks, there are scrapbook making kits with Disney themes widely available in craft stores, book stores, and even online. There are websites that are even dedicated to Disney scrapbooking itself.

I recently purchased an a la card template and found it very innovative. You can create this card quickly from a 51/2″X12″ strip of card stock. Simply score and fold the card at 41/4″ to create a standard-sized card, then score and fold the additional length back over the front of the card to create a dimensional look without an additional piece of scrapbook paper.
Each card is stamped with a background stamp, and each card features a different edge treatment: distressed, torn, and folded, then pierced. The same edge treatment is repeated in the accent. You can mix and match colors, stamp sets, and accessories with these cards.

Yes, you can actually emboss a markered image! Just ink your stamp with a marker from your scrapbooking tools and then breathe heavily on the image to moisten the ink to allow embossing powder to stick to it. To get an even stickier image, ink your stamp using a versamark pad, stamp off, and then color the stamp with your markers.
Has anyone ever used a stamp-a-ma-jig? I’d be interested in your comments about it.

Stencil alphabets spell success these days. Creative minds are finding all kinds of ways to use these quick and easy accents, as drop caps to begin your journaling, as attention-grabbers on a tag, for decoration in titles and border, and the list goes on.
With your hobby blade and an alphabet set or sets, you’ve got everything you need to create your own customized alphabet stencils to coordinate perfectly with your unique projects.

Everyone has a bad day occasionally. What better way to cheer up a dear one who is feeling down than to share a decorated card made with your scrapbooking paper and embellishments? I created a card today for a dear friend, hoping that she’ll get a smile from it.
I included a lemonade packet that I tucked inside as an extra treat! I can’t wait to send it out tomorrow!

Here are a few more tips on journaling. Jot down a few notes about each pile of photos that you’ve gathered so as to spark your memory later. A few words on the back of each picture will help with the journaling, like the date that the photo was taken, who’s in the picture, what’s happening in the photo, and you may wish to number the photos.
When you sit down to journal, organize the pictures and thoughts into a creative presentation that ties into your scrapbook page. These ideas will also help you to establish a great title for your page. More on this subject later.

Here’s the steps that I use to dye fibers. Cover the bottom of a small, shallow container with water. Leave plenty of space to allow for liquid displacement when the scrapbooking ribbon is added to the container. Next, squeeze ink from an ink refill bottle into the container, (1 tsp. of water to 10 drops of ink). Test your color by soaking a small sample of ribbon in the ink using tweezers from your scrapbooking tools. The longer you soak the ribbon the darker the color. If the color isn’t quite right, adjust the water-to-ink ratio.

If you look around in nature, you’ll notice that circles surround us everywhere. From the sun to tree rings, they reflect a circular theme. Using only a few simple items, you can take this soothing theme from nature and create stunning looks in your scrapbooking card making.
Circles draw attention to the focal point of a card. A large flower on the card can be the focal point by layering circles behind and as part of the flower. Use circles punches and a button to carry the theme throughout the card. The circles echo each other in different sizes.

One of the most thrilling things that you can do with ink is change the color of your embellishments. If you have a spool of white grosgrain ribbon and a handful of ink refills, you have a variety of scrapbooking ribbon choices for your project.
For example, a card saying, “With All My Heart,” has the ribbon dyed a lighter shade of the original color than the card stock. You can achieve a subtle tone-on tone effect with little effort.
