I like designing scrapbooking albums that are 6″X6″ or brag books, however not everyone wants to create small albums. So as a solution to this problem, I sometimes point out to others that a few variations to a page can create a page that can be used in any size scrapbook. We all want to show scrapbooks, but we usually only appeal to whomever uses the size we’re showing.
To re-create this technique, start with a basic 6″X6″ page which may feature one, picture, one accent, one stamp set, and simple layering. To turn that page into an 81/2″X11″ page, take the original page and place it in the center of the 81/2″X11″ scrapbooking paper. Now you’ve created an automatic focal point! Add a few other accents such as a title and stamped images or scrapbooking stickers in the background. To adapt your finished larger page into a 12″X12″ piece of scrapbooking paper, copy the design from your 81/2″X11″ page to the 12″X12″ page. Add more photos to the page, and incorporate journaling to your scrapbooking albums.
Have fun creating all of the scrapbooking albums you wish in any size using this simple idea.
I really enjoy attending a scrapbooking crop, especially when I’ve run out of ideas for scrapbooking pages. Also stamping camps offer new creative and fun ideas. The presenters and participants bring scrapbooking tools, scrapbooking paper, and even finished pages for others to view. I usually learn the latest and greatest techniques and how to create more elaborate projects. So if you have lull in your favorite hobby, try attending a teaching camp of some sort.
An eclectic look is always fun to make using your scrapbooking tools. Select a seemingly random combination of images that combine to create a wonderful background or accent. And when you rely on the wide array of stamps, card stock, and inks, you’ll find a never-ending resource for your eclectic creations.
For a vintage page, use three different background stamps to create four eclectic card stock pieces that are different, yet combine for a marvelous vintage look that complement an old black-and-white photo perfectly.
You’ll love the variety of looks you can come up with as you create just the right pieces to accent your stamping projects.
This is a fresh card-making idea. Calendar cards feature out-of-the-ordinary holiday ideas and fun cards you can create for a quick gift.
All that you need is at least two colors of scrapbooking paper, stamps or stickers, a 41/2″ card base, and maybe some markers. Apply your colored design and a message on one of the colors of paper and adhere to the coordinating colored card base. Voila! You’re ready to add the calendar with more designs to the plain section of card stock.
Here’s another idea for a scrapbook page layout. Find an image from a favorite movie on the internet and print it on your patterned paper. Then tie this accent with photos, journaling, and title together.
Layering letter stickers in a crooked fashion will give the title of your page a playful spin. There are many other scrapbooking embellishments that can be added to the page. Just use your imagination!
Here’s an idea for using stamping pads from your scrapbooking tools. No matter what your age, what better way to get in touch with your inner kid–in stamping and in life. Whether you’re a total newbie or ready to go pro, you’re sure to pick up one or two new tricks.
1. Tear edges to give a carefree air to an otherwise structured scrapbook page. 2. Take your child’s toy truck, ink the wheels up, and roll the truck over your scrapbook paper. Keep going until the wheels are clean. 3. To create a surf look when you’ve been to the beach, turn an oval punch at an angle and punch along the entire edge of your paper. The smaller the oval, the rougher the surf. Feel the salty spray of the sea by stamping, then stamping off, an element image on textured card stock.
A slider card is a slick little way to add dimension and movement to your next card making project.
To begin, cut a piece of scrapbooking paper to the desired size. Stamp any background text or images on the card. Next, choose your slider images and stamp them on a separate piece of card stock. The stamped images(s) can be any shape but should be large enough to allow for easy movement along the slider track. Cut a slider track by cutting a card stock strip that spans the width of the card. Using a paper cutter, cut two parallel slits in the card stock strip. Leave about 1/2″ on each end of the slits for stability. Cut a strip of card stock, and thread it through the slider track. Loop the strip around the track and use adhesive to glue the ends together, completing the loop. Then, glue your slider image to the loop. Finally, attach the slider track to your card with adhesive.
So you’re dressed and ready for the day. Still, something’s missing. To rise above your wardrobe blahs, you decide to take advice from fashion experts and accessorize!
Simple add-ons to your dress is the same as those to your cards and pages using your scrapbooking tools, stamps, and paper, and can take any design from bland and boring to fresh and fabulous. What’s more, add-ons like markers, ribbon, or brads give you a chance to add class to your design!
When you think of scrapbooks, you likely envision albums full of pictures and memorabilia that capture favorite moments in your life. But scrapbooking is also a wonderful way to preserve other things in addition to memories. Think about using your scrapbooking tools and paper and design a recipe album. I have tons of recipes that need to be preserved.
We all are very busy and have a limited amount of time to sit down and scrapbook a past vacation, much less have any idea of where to begin at scrapbooking. Here’s an idea for those of you who want to create a Disney scrapbook album. You need to make your backgrounds first, lay out pictures, add many interesting accents, and write the text. To design backgrounds, you may use stationary with Disney designs. These can be found in Disney stores and craft stores. For accents you can use cutouts from Disneyland maps and brochures.
For those of you in a hurry to make their Disney scrapbooks, there are scrapbook making kits with Disney themes widely available in craft stores, book stores, and even online. There are websites that are even dedicated to Disney scrapbooking itself.
